              Today’s Students are
             Tomorrow’s Workforce

NCBCE

The North Carolina Business Committee for Education (NCBCE) is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit comprised of business leaders from across the state. NCBCE, with its 26-year history of support, input and advocacy for public schools, has been an important voice in the Office of the Governor for five administrations from both political parties. This history demonstrates North Carolina’s commitment to supporting the link between education and economic well-being. One of NCBCE’s roles is to bring together education partners to ensure that corporate support is leveraged collectively.

Governor Beverly Perdue

The Business Committee’s mission focuses on ensuring that every student in North Carolina graduates from high school ready for life and work in a global society. NCBCE’s work impacts policy at the state and national level through partnerships with groups such as the State Board of Education and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Institute for a Competitive Workforce. Several initiatives supported by NCBCE have been recognized nationally as exemplary practices and include the nation’s first Center for 21st Century Skills. Housed at NCBCE, the Center focuses on the needs of North Carolina’s emerging workplaces. NCBCE also supports the NC Graduation Project because it develops the kinds of knowledge and skills necessary in businesses. All of this work ultimately influences local school district policies and decision-making.

NCBCE Members

NCBCE also provides ways for members to impact schools in their own communities. Examples of those opportunities include support of the North Carolina Teacher Working Conditions survey to assist in teacher retention and recruitment, Job  shadowing for students, teachers and administrators and DonorsChoose which funds local teachers’ classroom needs. Other examples of members’ support of local schools can be found on our website  (www.ncbce.org) in the Snapshots of Strategic Corporate Investments document.

The North Carolina Business Committee for Education is a dynamic organization committed to finding solutions that ensure continued progress in public education. Our success as a state and nation depends on educating all students—today’s students are tomorrow’s citizens, leaders, entrepreneurs and workforce.
