In 2008, Lenovo established a 207,000 sq. ft. U.S. fulfillment center in Guilford County to support needs of a growing U.S. market for our products. As business has expanded, so too has the operation in Whitsett. On May 2, Lenovo’s senior executives for North America welcomed state and local leaders to the facility and its 37,500 square foot expansion.

“North Carolina is a great place for Lenovo to call home, both for our global executive headquarters in Morrisville and for our fulfillment center in Whitsett,” said David Schmoock, Senior Vice President and President of Lenovo North America. “Our partnership with the community here has been vital to our success.  As our business grows across North America, that will benefit the community here, and North Carolina.”

The U.S. Fulfillment Center has shipped more than 10 million products to customers across North America. The center employs approximately 160 people to support its operations – growing by 40 percent in the past year.

Attending the event, Deputy Secretary of the North Carolina Department of Commerce, Dale Carroll said, “It is so nice to see companies expanding in this tough economy. It’s a testament to the hard work of Lenovo’s leadership and employees to grow in such a competitive business in these challenging times.”

U.S. Congressman Howard Coble, who also attended the event said, “Having Lenovo in North Carolina shows that our state is the perfect place from which to manage such an innovative global technology company. Our skilled workforce in Guilford County is helping to drive the success of Lenovo in the U.S. market.”
