Education Secretary Arne Duncan will announce the state finalists for Phase II of the Race to the Top Competitive Funding Program on July 27 at 1:00 p.m. (ET) during a speech at the National Press Club in Washington, DC. The Department will simultaneously issue a press release at that time announcing the finalists. About $3.4 billion is still available for states for Phase II. Finalists will be required to travel to Washington, DC to present their applications to Department application peer reviewers in early-August.
Secretary Duncan is also expected to discuss "The Quiet Revolution" in education reform celebrating the wide range of reforms underway across the country at the state and local levels.
